A former cafe transforms into a trendy retail store

Silvia Grudina is the founder of the clothing line ‘We on Wheels’, or WOW. Grudina is a recent graduate from the IED Academy in Rome, Italy, and her brand is designed for wheelchair users, bikers and others who enjoy being active. This retail store, designed to accommodate an actual location in Rome, caters to fit the needs of the wheeling population. This was a challenge because the shape of the current structure was difficult to make it accessible. As you descend the ramp it feels like you are descending to a subway station. The lower level contains one fitting room beneath the ramp, as well as the employees break room and restrooms. The longitudinal section reveals the height of the main floor fitting rooms, as well as the path of the ramp. In this project I specifically coordinated the design for the lower level and created the rendering, transverse section cut and floor plan for that level. I was also very involved in the floor plan and space planning of the ground level and the selection of the materials.
