The Field Museum welcomes artist Rhonda Holy Bear

Project completed as an intern
Created with Sketchup, Revit and Photoshop

As an exhibit design intern at The Field Museum I was given the task of designing this exhibition in partnership with another intern. I began working on this project in the early design phase, taking it from a conceptual design to a concrete finished project that is currently on display until January 2019. I researched through the case list at the museum and selected cases that would best fit the needs of each artifact or group of artifacts. From there, the floor plan came to life for circulation of guests and allowing for a wide path of travel for shipments that often come through the space. During the process I created floor plans, perspectives and case layout sheets. I worked closely with the graphic designer of the exhibition to understand where graphics would be placed and to choose the colors of the walls and cases. I was also in frequent consultation with the exhibition developer, in order to maintain the story, and with the production manager and the conservationist to assist with technical aspects of each display case. Bi-weekly meetings with the project manager and our team kept the project on track and prepared us for a detailed presentation to the artist of the artifacts, as well as to the director of the Exhibitions Department.
